The Civilized Electrons is the most conceptually solid of my musical projects. Since the turn of the millennium, my mind has been set on creating space-influenced ambient/technoid music. One of the few good tracks I’ve managed to produce in the 00s, Unidentfied Walking Object was produced exclusively for the multi-media art pack ACiD #100. I think it’s pretty good, to be quite honest – give me a shout if you agree!

As the title imples, the mastering is not a work of art on this one. Created for a snowboard movie (I think, I never got to see the context in which this track was featured) by me and my friends Daniel and Christophe, this is an exploration into library music samples, pretty good scratching techniques and great Swedish workout LP samples. This version was rescued from scraps found after the final master was lost. Composition by all of us, Scratching by Christophe, drum programming (at times rather confused) by me.

I’ll kick off the music section with an unauthorized remix of Busta Rhyme’s Woo Hah. This was an experiment, to see what one could do with the original track as the only sample source. You’ll notice that the lyrics have been heavily filtered – the reason is simply that I had to remove the original music in some way. Oh, and if you’re representing Mr. Rhymes and are concerned about the copyright, please notify me and I’ll remove the track – I publish this under the assumption that it’s OK to remix things, just like the hip-hop movement owes all its progress to the use of unauthorized samples :).

Remorse, or Remorse 1981, is the longest surviving group on the PC ASCII scene (although I haven’t checked in on the status of the scene lately). After the first five art packs, the group died, but was soon revived — I joined just in time to contribute to pack number six. From pack six, the group soon claimed, permanently, the spot as the scene’s most prestigious affiliation. Read more: Remorse @ Wikipedia
I’ve now completed the Remorse part of my ASCII page. Enjoy. Next part will be Noname.

Welcome, brave explorer. This is a site dedicated to the collected works of me, Niklas Bergius. Also known as Bergius, Polymorph, Positron Alpha and The Civilized Electrons (of which Positron Alpha is a band member, along with two additional alter egos), my collected works include ASCII art, music, photographs and miscellaneous creative output. Currently in a period of low creativity, I decided to create this site as a display of things I’ve created earlier in my life. Hopefully this will inspire me to create new things other than photographs.
