ASCII is the short form for ASCII art, and an acronym meaning American Standard Code for Information Interchange. I was active on the so-called PC ASCII scene from the mid-90s to the early 00s. The scene, which was closely interconnected with the so-called ANSI scene, consisted of artists (and hangarounds) who were members of one or more art groups – among other groups, I was as member of Oasis, CIA, Trank, Remorse, Noname, Kwest and Basic. I spent a great deal of time with these people, some of which I would still count as my friends, should they need a place to stay – hello Cain, Discyple, Necromancer and others. I like to think that I am still an Alumni member of Remorse (a sub-division of ACiD). This is a collection of the text-based art I created when not chatting away on IRC. The only post processing applied is cropping and a touch of self-conscious censoring.
